Belfair was established in 1811 when William Telfair of Savannah married Betsey Bellinger. The Bellinger and Telfair names were united to name their new plantation. In the 1920’s Belfair’s new owner, William Mosely Swain, planted the oaks that now constitute the magnificent Avenue of Oaks. Today, Belfair is a private golf club community on approximately 1100 acres with 730 homesites and a maximum membership of 770.

Nestled on the banks of the Colleton River, Belfair is graced with two dramatic Tom Fazio courses. The West Course is the original course and offers panoramic vistas of Hidden Lake and scenic marsh views to the Colleton River. The West Course is home to the Players Amateur, one of the premier amateur tournaments in the country. Former contestants have gone on to win some of golf’s most coveted titles including the United States and British Opens. The East Course is a links style course featuring bentgrass greens, elevated tees and picturesque finishing holes along the marsh and Colleton River. Looking to elevate your game? Among the extensive programs offered are individual lessons, instructional clinics on all phases of the swing and the use of state of the art video equipment and access to customized club fitting.

The Belfair fitness & Sports Center with its fitness areas, pools and tennis center is situated in a beautifully landscaped, tranquil setting removed from the hustle and bustle of the Clubhouse. The fitness staff caters to every need with a complete selection of fitness equipment and free weights. A variety of fitness programs are offered including individual fitness evaluations, personal training, golf and tennis-specific workouts, Pilates, yoga, flexibility and aerobic classes. Residents enjoy both the indoor and outdoor Junior Olympic Pool where you can enjoy a healthy lunch at the poolside snack bar. Six Har-Tru courts are conveniently situated at the Activity Center. Tennis programs are designed for the whole family and clinics and special events are held throughout the year. Children can enjoy the popular kid’s Camp Belfair.

Belfair’s elegant Clubhouse overlooks the finishing holes of the golf courses and the marshes to the Colleton River. The Clubhouse has a fully stocked Pro Shop, formal dining rooms, spacious mixed grill and full service Men’s and Ladies locker rooms all with spectacular vistas of the Colleton River. Residents enjoy the daily lunch or Casual Dining menu offered on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday evenings. Special events round out the dining experiences. From oyster roasts to themed celebrations strives to offer the latest cuisine, while creating an environment that encourages the celebration of life with family and friends.

Belfair is unique in that their residents can access the Towne Village right outside the East Gate of Belfair. This development is a wonderful perk for all Belfair residents. Belfair property owners can access the Village in their golf carts.

The Village offers a variety of services from a supermarket and pharmacy to dining and healthcare providers. Several banks, a dry cleaner, video rental, liquor store and professional offices are just a few of the amenities available. Dining options range from casual to fine dining.

Belfair has both homes and homesites with golf, wooded, lagoon and marsh to deepwater views available. Every home and homesite within Belfair includes a Belfair family membership and transfers with the sale of the property. A number of Golf Cottages are available as well. These homes can be rented by the owner through the club to members and their guests.
